What do you use to see with? If you said your eyes… you're wrong. How about hearing? If you said ears… wrong again! You don't see or hear with your eyes or ears. Those are just end organs for collecting light and sound waves. To actually see and hear you have to interpret those waves with your nerves and brain (Nerve System) first. In reality, you LIVE in your Nerve System. EVERYTHING you experience in life is processed through it… what you see, what you hear, what you feel. That's why chiropractors care so much about keeping it healthy. If your Nerve System is stressed, there goes your ability to interpret your world, and there goes your ability to successfully navigate life. Regular adjustments keep your Nerve System clear so you can respond to life's challenges in a positive way. If you're feeling a little foggy, or just disconnected from the world, maybe it's time for some Nerve System house cleaning. Give your chiropractor a call today and get reconnected to Life. Disc degeneration is usually best indicated on X-ray, but can be inferred from stiffness or a global lack of range of motion. Although the joint degeneration and extra bone growth can not be reversed, chiropractic care can slow or even halt the progression of the disease. Even in the late stages of degenerative disc disease, chiropractic care can provide a great deal of relief as the progression of the disease is stopped.
Since the disc will continue to die as long as there is a lack of motion in the joint, the chiropractic adjustment provides appropriate motion to the joints around the disc. In most cases, the introduction of motion to the hypomobile joints will allow the disc to move more freely, restoring the proper nutritive flow to the disc, and preventing the progression of the disease. Multiple cases of chiropractic care for degenerative disc disease have reported excellent results. An article published in 2011 reports ten patient cases of upper neck degeneration who found great relief in pain and increased range of motion from chiropractic care. The authors of the study even reported that 6 of the 10 patients experienced a restoration of disc height. Anecdotally, Dr. Johnson has seen remarkable reductions in pain and disability from degenerative disc disease in patients after minimal treatments. Contact Dr. Johnson with any questions regarding your degenerative disc disease. Fortune tellers read the life line in the palm of a client's hand. Cardiologists interpret the blipping life lines of a patient's EKG. But chiropractors dedicate their work to the most important life line of them all… the spinal cord and its protective covering, the spine. The spine itself is an engineering marvel. Made up of articulating bones called vertebrae, each segment lines up perfectly with the next to provide both support to your body and protection to the spinal cord. It's this critical relationship between spinal alignment and the flow of Life through the spinal cord that chiropractors are devoted to. Distort the alignment of the spine and you distort the flow of Life through the cord. Distort the flow of Life through the cord and you distort the expression of health in your body. For a chiropractor, smooth lateral curves and plumb postures are more than just simple diagnostic findings. They’re the validation that Life itself is flowing freely through the patient like a river. And as long as Life courses through the line, healing is sure to follow. Content provided by Principle33. If you are currently having disc problems, no doctor can force your disc to regrow short of invasive surgery, and no doctor can push your disc back in where it belongs. However, there are several conservative techniques that can be attempted to relieve your disc symptoms and even reduce the amount of herniation, if any.
The essential task is to restore the proper amount of motion to the affected area. Since discs are fed by motion, the increased nutrition to the discs that results from motion can often halt the progression of degenerative disc disease. And the application of precise movements in specific directions can often halt or reverse the progression of disc herniations and their symptoms. The gentle chiropractic adjustment and axial spinal decompression are standard, safe, and effective treatments for a variety of disc conditions, including disc herniation and degeneration. Dr. Johnson of Johnson Family Chiropractic of Peoria has helped many patients avoid costly surgeries for their low back and neck disc problems.
